Fancy Folds – Square Pop Up Card

Thanks for joining us this month! We’re hopping all over the world with some fun cards. It’s time for the new Fancy Fold for this month – a Pop Up Card!

This is such a fun way to make a 3-d project without a lot of fuss. It even folds up flat!

Here is the front when all closed up, it’s a 4″ x 4″ size.

Note, the bonus texture on the Granny Apple Green was not intentional…. that just means I didn’t change out my old cutting plates. But it turned out kinda cool! 🙂

And here it is when it’s all done and opened up:

I wanted to show a (mostly) finished picture of what the inside and outside of the card look like so you can understand how to decorate it, and how it goes together.

Start with an 8″ x 8″ piece of cardstock, and score it in half, both ways. You will want to also score a diagonal line from the center out to one of the points,

Once that is scored, you can cut out the missing section, making sure to leave a bit of a tab that will get folded over to glue it together.

I cut out the circles using the Layering Circles Dies, with two sizes close to each other.

You could use any shape or size you like, or even cut extra circles to make skinny frames around the opening. I kept mine simple with just the layer of DSP that was a bit bigger than the green layer. Note – You will need to fold the green layer on top of itself to fit it in the Cut & Emboss machine.

Here is where that glue will go on that skinny tab:

Once it’s glued, you can work it closed by sliding the bottom up towards the top like this:

I wanted to showcase how colorful this combination is, picking flower colors right from the DSP!

I added Wink of Stella on the flowers and the wings, and they all sparkle! Both ladybugs were created with the Ladybug punch – so simple and quick!

The sentiment was from one of the new Sale-A-Bration sets – Special Moments, and I thought it was perfect for such a fun card.

A few Iridescent Rhinestones on the flower centers make it even more pretty.

I hope you like this and take a few minutes to make one yourself!
