Fancy Folds Double Easel Card

Hi folks! Thanks for joining us this month! We’re hopping all over the world with some fun cards. It’s time for the new Fancy Fold for this month – the Double Easel Card! Today’s fold is so fun, and easy for everyone to make.

For this one, I immediately thought of a card with a giant birthday cake towering up from the front of the card… but, then I realized I’ve just used the Piece of Cake stamp set to do a different card this week! So, off to the drawing board I went.. and I came up with this beauty!! One of my favorite sets is the retiring Abstract Impressions. It has some gorgeous flowers and fun sentiments and it’s made in a style where you don’t have to be perfect!

Here is my card for you today:

First how to create the fold.

  • I used a standard Night of Navy card base, 11” x 4.25” scored in half.
  • I then took a piece of Mango Melody to layer on top. The finished layer would be 5.25” x 4”, so I double that to 10.5” x 4” and scored it in half.
  • Then, I scored one flap of that piece in half (no measuring even needed, but it would be 2 5/8”).

I cut the some of the fabulous See A Silhouette Designer Series Paper to layer on the front facing sides.

Here is what it would look like from the side once it is put together:

Next here are more of the details of the decorations.

I knew I wanted bright happy colors and I happened to have a leftover bow sitting on my desk from when I was playing with ribbon.. So it was decided – bright yellows will be the color! I used the Crushed Curry ribbon and the Mango Melody card stock paired up with some Night of Navy and Mellow Moss for this creation.  The See A Silhouette DSP has some of those bold colors and goes great with my base colors.

The Stitched Shapes and Layering Ovals Dies were used on the front for the sentiment, and I used the Stitched Rectangles to cut some vellum to layer over the bright leaves.

I added some Champagne Rhinestones and Wink of Stella (which decided to come out in a very generous amount this time – lots of sparkle).

The inside of the card was not forgotten! I used the coordinating Springtime Impressions Dies to get the large flower pattern in vellum. It’s a subtle way to jazz up the inside. That die set also includes the little flowers I added to the front of the card.

It’s so bright and cheery and sparklie. I hope it makes you smile!
