Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Can You Feel the Love Tonight

Welcome to this month’s Blogging Friends Blog Hop!

Thanks for making it over to my blog! Each month we’ll have a different theme, and this month it’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight

Now, I don’t generally do the typical Love – Valentine’s – Mushy type of cards, however…. There is a new stamp set in the brand new Mini Catalog that I absolutely had to have.. and it can fit this theme! I was pretty excited about that, so I went for it. I even used Lovely Lipstick as the base color to keep it at least a tiny bit traditional.

The set I used is Music From the Heart, and as you can guess, it’s music themed. But, it also has a heart theme to it!
Here is the project I created for you today:

I love how it turned out, and have to point out that I also love using our catalogs as inspiration for cards. (In this case, page 57 of the Mini Catalog.)

I heat embossed the background images with clear embossing powder, then sponged ink all over it to highlight them. I also heat embossed the sentiment. The trick here is to use both Versamark AND a colored ink. Then use the clear embossing powder and you get an embossed, colored image. YAY!

To get some of the fun die cut images, both the label and the swirly design behind it, I used the Painted Labels Dies. (You can get that in a bundle with the Painted Poppies Stamp Set.)

Some of the new fun White Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon and sparkling rhinestones finish off this fun and loving card.

I hope you like it, and don’t forget to check out the other great projects by clicking through the hop today! Here is the list of participants:

One more thing to love today is the products you see here can now be purchased, as they are live in the new Mini Catalog, AND Sale-A-Bration starts!
So much to love! Check out the products in my online store to go shopping today!

Happy Stamping!

  • Oh my gosh, Mary Ann! I LOVE this card! Definitely have to case this one. You are right, perfect for our theme. One question about your sentiment, did you just stamp the image once after inking with both inks, or did you line it up and stamp it a second time? I haven’t tried that, but love how it turned out! Happy new year!

    • Thanks Tammy! For the embossing – I first inked up the stamp in Versamark, then right onto the color ink pad. Then, stamp on the cardstock. Then pour your clear EP over it and heat. Hope that helps!
