Fancy Folds – Triple Cube Pop Up Card
July 17, 2020
Hi folks! Thanks for joining us this month! We’re hopping all over the world with some fun cards. It’s time for the new Fancy Fold for this month – the Triple Cube Pop Up Card!
This is definitely a centerpiece of a card! Let me show you the finished product so you can see what it looks like:
Pretty neat, huh? I had to do a little research on this one, as I’ve never made this before. What I found is many of the instructions start with a 12 x 12 inch piece of card stock, but I have limited supplies of that size. So, I improvised and scaled it back to accommodate an 8.5 x 11 inch piece.
It’s actually pretty easy once you lay it out. For the folks out there that need numbers, here is a picture with all the measurements:
The fun part is, you don’t really need to measure every single fold. The little flap on the end is just a half inch. The rest of the sheet is just folded into equal sections. So, you could fold that in half once, then fold that section in half again! You could do this with any size cardstock.
To use any size, you just want to make sure the size you end up for the 4 sections (in this case it was 2 5/8″) is the size you need to use for the heights of the strips.
You need two of the smaller strips, and one larger piece. S0, in this case, I used two strips that were 2 5/8″ x 11″ and one larger strip that was twice that high – 11 x 5 1/4″.
Once you have all the strips, you fold them up like a tube, where it is open on the top and bottom. Put adhesive on the small flap to hold it closed.
Take the two small cubes and just glue them to the front of the longer tube. You will do any decorating after it is assembled.
Here is what it looks like more from the top:
I wanted this to be a colorful display, so I used my pack of 6 x 6 Brights Designer Series Paper. I used *all* the colors. I cut out a 2.5″ square of each color, then two extra for the inside.
I used both sizes of the Daisy Punch, the larger in Black, the medium one in the cardstock of each matching color. I put them together with a dimensional between them, and topped them with rhinestones.
For the sentiments, I used the Lovely You stamp set, and the Tasteful Labels dies. For the black label, I die cut one, then snipped it in half to layer behind the white label.
I added a few colored rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestones to add sparkle.
The best part is it will still fold flat, or mostly flat if you used a lot of dimensionals and layering!
Depending on what size envelope you want to use, you can fold it pushing the small boxes down like this:
Or, you can fold them up so it is smaller like this:
I hope you enjoyed today’s project and were inspired to give it a try yourself! It’s always fun to learn something new!
