PPA224 Sketch with Fall Foliage

I try not to go back into my stash of favorite retired stamps (or inks, or retired anything really) for posting up here…  but, I must say my favorite leaf set has still got to be French Foliage <edited to be the correct name, oops>. So, when this challenge came up and an idea of fall colors and leaves popped into my head, I had no choice! You get those moments too, right??  You just can’t make something go away? So, I made a card with retired items! The horror!!!! 🙂  ok, enough with the drama….
Here is the challenge that inspired me, Pals Paper Arts PPA224 Sketch Challenge:

And, here is the card I came up with:

I am completely confident this could be made with substituted stamps, or inks… but ya know what?  I like this one for today!
Aside from the stamp set, I dug up my old Stampin’ Up! Spectrum pad (Late November). Yep, remember those?? And guess what, it was still inked! Holy cow these things rock.
The only reason I did this is out of sheer laziness. I could have just used all the individual ink pads, one by one, and layered the colors… but, well. I didn’t want to. I will save that for another day when there isn’t an idea stuck in my head. 🙂

I think the idea is simple, and used the rainbow effect as my background, instead of cutting out separate layers of paper. That was my interpretation anyway.

I matched up some of the older colors with the new ones – like the Crushed Curry instead of More Mustard and Night of Navy instead of Not Quite Navy, so I could use the paper and candy dots, and it was perfect.  I hope everyone likes it!

Behind the scenes:  I stamped the main leaf using the ink pad, then decided it needed more shine! So, I stamped it again, just in Versamark this time! Then, I embossed it with clear EP right over it, and poof!  shiny leaf!

Enjoy!
