Fancy Folds – Triple Floating Diamond Card

Thanks for joining us this month! We’re hopping all over the world with some fun cards. It’s time for the new Fancy Fold for this month – a Triple Floating Diamond Card!

This is definitely a card your recipient will want to display on their table or mantle!

There are several variations and videos out there showing how to make this, but I adjusted this one to accommodate starting with a standard 8.5″ x 11″ piece of cardstock. Many variations start with a 12″ x 12″ piece.

Here is the end result once it’s all completed and set up to display:

Here’s the back of the card, so there’s still somewhere to write a fun message.

When you fold it all up, it’s 5.5″ x 5.5″.

Here are the dimensions you will need for this specific project:

• 2 pieces of black cardstock, measuring 11″ x 5.5″
• 3 squares colored cardstock, measuring 3 – 5/8″ each side
• 3 white squares, measuring 3 – 3/8″ each side
• 6 panels of DSP (I used stars), measuring 5 .25″ x 2.5″
• 2 white panels (for the back), also measuring 5 .25″ x 2.5″

 

For the Black pieces, here is how you score and cut them:

Basically, for each piece, you fold it in half, then each of those sections get folded in half again (blue dotted lines) – to make 4 panels.

Then, cut off the corners with an “x” – The line goes from the middle of the edge to the score line.

Next, fold over two of the flaps, and push them close together, until the folded lines touch.

Glue the colored squares over the diamond shapes. This also hold the two pieces of black cardstock together.

• Note: The outer diamonds only get glued on the outside half so they can lift up like a flap.

Accessories:  Witch Hat Builder Punch, Glitter Washi Tape, Blending Brushes, Dimensionals
