Fancy Folds – Twist and Pop Card
July 16, 2021
Thanks for joining us this month! We’re hopping all over the world with some fun cards. It’s time for the new Fancy Fold for this month – the Twist and Pop Card!
There are a few different ways to make this one, and I followed this video by a fellow SU Demonstrator from a few years ago.
When you open up this card, it has a panel that twists out to be bigger than the card.
Here is the view inside when it’s all open so you can see what we are aiming to get:
Let start with the piece of cardstock that will make that panel pop up.
- Using a full sheet of 8.5 x 11″ piece of CS, trim 1/4″ off the edge to make it 10 3/4″.
- Make 3 score lines on each side – 2 are right down the middle of the paper, the other ones are on both sides of that middle line. You can see the measurements in the photo.
- 2 1/4″, 4 1/4″, 6 1/4″
- 3 7/8″, 5 3/8″, 6 7/8″
- I saved then used the scraps for the items I die cut on the front.
Once you have cut out the corners, you will fold it diagonally twice. It doesn’t quite line up with the cut out corners, but – you do want it to cross the very center where the score lines meet.
When you fold over the sheet, you will also want the gray score lines to line up – I’ve used colored stars as a guide – fold on the green line so the green star lines meet up.
I realized after I completed this, I missed a few pictures of the steps to show the panel being attached!
I’m using a 3″ x 11″ sheet of CS, folder into 4 equal panels – and you can decorate them as you wish.
If you watch the video, you can see that only a small portion of the panel is actually glued down – and it’s only on opposite sides.
Once it’s glued down, and folded back together, this is a peek in the middle of the card:
Once I had the inside done, I got to focus on the front – and I used this wonderful seahorse!!
I sponged a few colors onto some white CS, then die cut it. I did the same for the coral. Then I added Wink of Stella all over both!
I hope you like this and take a few minutes to make this one yourself… it was actually pretty easy once I got the hang of it!
