Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Memories of Christmas Past
December 4, 2020
Welcome to this month’s Blogging Friends Blog Hop!
Thanks for making it over to my blog! Each month we’ll have a different theme, and this month it’s “Memories from Christmas Past”.
For this I wanted to keep it simple and recreate the Christmas tree we used to decorate when I was growing up. This is just a bit different from the tree we decorate now.
Growing up we had a real tree with the multicolor lights, and had gold garland wrapped all around it.
Today, we have an artificial tree, one with all white lights, and instead of gold, we have a blue decorative ribbon. Although, at the rate the white lights are fading out, we may be switching them over to colored soon. Yay!
Here’s my take on a simple card to get the feel of that tree:
I used the Perfectly Plaid stamps and colored the tree with Stampin’ Blends for the lights. I wrapped some of the gold ribbon around it for garland. Super easy and fun.
The gold foil border gives it a bit more shine, along with the Wink of Stella on all the little white trees on the DSP.
I used the blending brushes with Crumb Cake on the sentiment die cut to give it a bit more aged look, and there’s added bling from the multi colored Holiday rhinestones.
Here are the supplies I used:
Stamps: Perfectly Plaid
Card Stock/Paper: Gold Foil, Shaded Spruce, Whisper White, Tis the Season 6×6 DSP
Inks: Real Red, Shaded Spruce, Crumb Cake
Cut & Emboss Machine items: Tasteful Labels Dies
Accessories: Pine Tree Punch, Holiday Rhinestones, Wink of Stella, Forever Greenery Trim Ribbon, Blending Brushes, Dimensionals, Stampin’ Blends (Shaded Spruce, Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Bermuda Bay)
I hope you’ve enjoyed this project, and don’t forget to hop through the rest of today’s entries and leave us some nice notes!
