Fancy Folds – Window Accordion Card
November 20, 2020
Hi folks! Thanks for joining us this month! We’re hopping all over the world with some fun cards. It’s time for the new Fancy Fold for this month – the Window Accordion Card!
This one only looks harder than it is… if anything – it’s hard to photograph. 🙂
Using a window sheet and multiple layers of die cut butterflies, you can get this window look for the front of your card, which folds out a few times to reveal even more butterflies!
Here is the front of the card when folded up.
The butterflies are glued onto the window sheet on both sides.
When you open up the window flap to stand it up, it looks like this in the sunlight:
The window flap just rests against the cardstock with the sentiment on it. Laying it flat looks like this:
Taking the last flap and opening it downwards gives you additional panels inside:
To create the base panels, just use two standard card bases, and overlap one section. The fold should be across the shorter side.
Use a window sheet cut to the same size of a standard card base. This gets glued to the back of the card so the flap hangs over the front on it’s own.
You can cover all 6 panels (including where the window sheet is on the back) with panels of DSP. One full 12×12 sheet can be used for the card.
I used Vellum and Black to cut the layers of the butterflies. After I sponged some color on the vellum, I glued the two layers to the front of the window sheet.
For the inside, I reversed a Black butterfly layer and glued it to the back of the sheet so you don’t see any glue through the window sheet.
A few extra panels with extra butterflies (with the vellum on top) finish off the writing areas.
I really love how it turned out! Here are the supplies I used:
Stamps: Lovely You
Card Stock/Paper: Basic Black, Gray Granite, Magenta Madness, Whisper White, In Good Taste DSP
Inks: Magenta Madness, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody, Misty Moonlight, Memento Black
