Fancy Folds – Star Fold
August 21, 2020
Hi folks! Thanks for joining us this month! We’re hopping all over the world with some fun cards. It’s time for the new Fancy Fold for this month – the Star Fold Card!
Here’s what we are aiming to make when it is all folded up:
Since there were possibly going to be a lot of measurements, I wanted to keep my design super simple, so I used a sheet of DSP as the base. This way I had it pre-decorated with the pretty patterns on it! You could definitely use more decorations and layers for the base, but I love this snowflake pattern and colors!
To start – I used a full 12″ x 12′ piece of DSP and cut a triangle with all sides equaling 12″.
Then I used a ruler to make some pencil marks so I knew where to fold. It seems complicated, but it was actually easy.
Mark at the halfway points, and at the thirds. In the case of a 12″ side, that means halfway = 6″ and the thirds are every 4″ (so, at 4″ and 8″).
The red lines are where you fold them up. Tuck the flaps into each other like when trying to close a cardboard box with no tape! Once folded, it looks like this:
Then, decorate! I decorated the inside with some stamped snowflakes. The outside had some die cut snowflakes. I cut them from white cardstock, but I sponged the same colors as the DSP all over the paper first, so it matched the rest of the card. The glimmer paper and the rhinestones finish it off with a sparkle.
I really love how it turned out!
I hope you liked it, and here are the supplies I used:
Stamps: Snowflake Wishes Bundle, Snowman Season
Card Stock/Paper: Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper, Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, Whisper White
Inks: Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Pool Party, Memento Black
Embossing machine items: So Many Snowflakes Dies (in the bundle), Tasteful Labels Dies, Stiches Shapes Dies
Accessories: Rhinestones, Glue Dots, Dimensionals
I also hope you were inspired to give it a try yourself!
