Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Dragonflies

www.stampinmak.com

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is the New Occasions Catalog!

We are so lucky to have a guest blogger this month, too! YAY for Janet Wakeland! Be sure to check out the links at the bottom so you don’ miss out on any of the posts this month!

With the New Occasions Catalog right around the corner – there were sooo many neat things to choose from. I decided to pick one stamp and thinlit set, and a new tool. So, I used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, the coordinating Detailed Dragonflies Thinlits dies, and the NEW Watercolor Pencils.

I am so glad I did! These products are amazing! I’ve used the watercolor pencils we’ve had long ago in the past, but these are completely so much better. For one, they are the SAME colors as our inks! Another is that it made me break out the actual watercolor paper we have, and WOW! I need to do this more often. I am so happy with the results. Check this out: www.stampinmak.com

How pretty are these?  It took a little playing around, but I got the hang of it. I took one and added some of the dragonflies from the thinlits set:

The neat thing here is that I then used that piece of black cardstock for the layer behind the watercolor paper. (Saves paper!!)   Here’s what it looks like all put together:

I thought it was so pretty by itself, I didn’t even want to add a sentiment!
I’ve only used a few of the watercolor pencils to get the rainbow here: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, and Rich Razzleberry.  The thick baker’s twine is the Melon Mambo to match.  I could not resist – I had to also add some Wink of Stella on the dragonflies. SO SPARKLIE! 🙂

Here is the second piece, with the sentiment added:

This alone looks like it should be it’s own masterpiece. 🙂
I then added some of the largest dragonflies cut from both Black cardstock, and Vellum – with rhinestones and more Wink of Stella, of course:

Here’s a closeup of all the sparkly-ness:

(What did we ever do before this goodness??)
I really hope you enjoyed these projects – I’m sure to be using this set in my upcoming card classes.  I’ll have those on the calendar in a few days – the first one of the year is coming up in just a few weeks!

Look out for all the updated links as soon as the new Catalog starts – January 4th!
And, just in case you missed it, Sale-a-Bration starts at the same time. I’ll have more info on both in the next few days as well!

Happy Stamping, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Mak
