Bokeh Birthday Cards

Well that did not go as planned!   I didn’t quite get the step by step pictures to explain in detail how to do this, so I will try that again another time!  In the mean time, I will show the end results, which turned out pretty cool.

Hopefully the explanation without visual aids at this time will be easy to understand, and I’ll add the pics at another time. 🙂

I tried the popular bokeh technique, and this is the version using the white craft ink and circle templates.
To start, I cut out some circles using my punches and some window sheets (like transparency sheets).  I did three different sizes.
To add the color to the paper, I just used my Whisper White paper and sponged on a few different colors. I realized the more color covering the paper the better. After the white paper was all covered, use your white craft ink and a sponge dauber to lightly sponge white circles using your templates.
Circles can definitely overlap, and the smaller the circle – the more white you want to use. The dark colors will fade a bit, and if you move the daubers around a bit, they will smear a little, too.
After that is done, I dried mine with my heat tool because I was too impatient to wait for the craft ink to dry.  I then took my stamp and stamped it right on the paper over the circles and all.
This was the result: I used Night of Navy, Elegant Eggplant, and Always Artichoke for this.

Here is another sample, using the same technique: The colors used here are are just the Navy and Eggplant.

In both cases the stamped image is in Night of Navy.  I think these turned out rather cute and will definitely be trying more of this with different colors.

There’s some more I have coming up to share from my recent trip to “Stamping in the Woods”… We had an entire weekend away with friends, food, and lots of stamping.  I’ve been taking pictures of all the projects I made and will be sharing those soon!
