Gold Butterfly for PPA242
March 10, 2015
Hi folks!! Here’s another quick card with a lot of textures, but it wasn’t that hard to make!
I used this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge PPA242 for the inspiration. Here is the color selection:
And… Ta Da! Here is my creation:
I can’t stay away from that butterfly (at least not yet…) since it’s so pretty and easy to use once you figure out the wax paper trick!
* In case you missed that one:
Use a sheet of wax paper between the thinlit and the paper, and it pops out so much easier! For even easier use, add a dryer sheet under the paper for all the extra little bits to stick to so you don’t have to pop them all out.
Your layering sandwich should look like this when you use the Big Shot:
– Clear Plate on top
– Butterfly thinlit (cutting side down)
– Wax paper
– Card Stock (pretty side up)
– Dryer sheet
– Clear Plate on bottom
At least this is how I do it and it has worked out great. I actually keep the wax paper cutouts and layer them on some cards, as I did on this one. The butterfly here is cut from the Gold Foil Sheets.
The card above also has a few other elements… such as the double layer of black that I made using the Decorate Dots Embossing folder as a stamp!! I took the Gold Metallic ink, and dabbed it all over the inside that had the raised dots…. then pressed the cardstock right on it… no Big Shot involved. This gives you a stamped image, instead of the embossed image… give it a try, it’s pretty neat.
I also used the Specialty DSP from Sale-A-Bration, Irresistibly Yours, and dabbed Garden green all over it, then stamped a little bit with the dots in the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set. You will still want to wipe any excess ink off. The sentiment is from the SAB set Simply Wonderful – and that was then stamped with Staz-On ink.
I used some of our super slick Gold Satin Ribbon, and colored a few Pearls with our Gold Marker for an accent to finish it off.
I hope you enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day colors in a non-St. Patrick’s Day card!

Thanks Linda!
This card is absolutely stunning! Just gorgeous. Thanks so much for creating along with us at Pals Paper Arts this week.
Thanks Kerry! I was just commenting to hubby that it looks even better in person than online.. still gotta work out lighting issues – like not taking pictures at night. 🙂
