Dots Dots and More Dots – SUO114

It’s been a pretty cold and gray winter so far, so I decided to stick with more bright colors for today’s card.  The Stampin’ Up! Only Challenges SUO#114 Theme this week is Dots, Dots, and More Dots!

I wanted to make this one bright and fun. I’ve combined one of the SAB stamp sets, Big Day, with the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (also available though SAB).
Here’s my card with lots of dots:

The card stock colors used here are Black, Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight. The Celebrate banner was stamped on Daffodil Delight and cut out. It’s attached with some Dimensionals.
The Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim is from the Occasions Catalog. The trim across the top reminds me of a party banner. I colored the Cake sentiment with the Blendabilities in the same colors as well as Smokey Slate for the cake stand.  I used markers to also color the candles on the cake and stamped a bunch of them.

For the dots…  You can see the sequins, which have some extra glitter on them. There are the dots below the sentiment, where those and the candle flames also have some bonus glitter (Dazzling Details). It may be hard to see, but trust me they are there!
The background dots were created with the polka dot sheet of the DSP, and I used a sponge in each of the 3 colors to color it. I sponged it in circles, and was careful to not overlap it too much, as I didn’t want those to blend, I wanted them to stay their true colors. <ok, now I have Cyndi Lauper stuck in my head, sorry about that>

Hopefully the bright colors will brighten your day, and they won’t leave you seeing spots for too long. 🙂
