FMS154 Sparklie Stars
September 22, 2014
Here’s a sparklie card to end the weekend – and to celebrate the end of Summer!! For this week’s sketch challenge from Freshly Made Sketches FMS154, I went with the stars from Bright & Beautiful in the Holiday Catalog, and used the coordinating framelits. The greeting is from the Good Greetings set that you can earn through the end of October.
Here is the sketch:
As I could not narrow it down to which stamp I wanted to highlight in the middle, I stuck with the shape right in the sketch – a star! Here is what I came up with:
There are quite a few layers to this, and lots of dimensionals, but I think it turned out pretty neat. I used White as the base, then layered the Silver Glimmer paper, then Lost Lagoon. The top layer of white uses the Stylish Stripes embossing folder. The ribbons on the page are the Silver Glimmer paper and then the Lost Lagoon taffeta ribbon in the Holiday Catalog. The large star in the back actually has Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon sponged on it to give it a different color than the solid Lost Lagoon on the top stars. I finished it off with a rhinestone in the middle. The word Sparkle is on paper cut diagonally to match the lines of the embossed paper. I hope everyone likes it!
Update: I almost forgot the “Behind the scenes” … Don’t waste your glimmer paper hiding behind other layers… cut out the inside of the paper, so the layer you use ends up looking like a picture frame, since you only see the outside edge, nobody will know you are missing the middle! Then you have another rectangle of glimmer paper to use somewhere else!
Enjoy!
